To achieve the grade 12, students should meet the following learning objectives with no or only minor mistakes or errors: Demonstrate a thorough and critical understanding of the course literature for each of the two courses.

Demonstrate an excellent ability to use the course literatures to analyze problems with relation to (1) behavioral dimensions of finance, and (2) sociological and philosophical aspects of financial markets and financial institutions.

Course prerequisites
The student must attend both courses: "Behavioural Finance" (KAN-CPHIV1802U) and "Sociological and Philosophical Perspectives on Finance" (KAN-CPHIV1804U)

The student must have qualifications in corporate finance and statistics equivalent to the B.Sc. in Business Administration and Philosophy and qualifications in behavioral economics equivalent to the M.Sc. in Business Administration and Philosophy.

Description of the exam procedure

This exam is a joint exam in the two courses 'Behavioral Finance' and 'Sociological and Philosophical Perspectives on Finance'. During the oral exam, students will be examined in the course syllabus for each of the two courses as well as in their ability to combine elements from the two courses. Teaching factulty from each course will be present. The oral exam can focus on practical, conceptual, analytical and/or theorical topics. The grade will reflect the student's performace in both courses, with equal weight being given to each course.

 

Please note that the exam constitutes one of two exams in the minor in 'Financial Decision-Making in a Social Context: History, Sociology, Behavioral Finance and Corporate Finance'.

Sociological and Philosophical Perspectives on Finance takes its point of departure in the increasingly important field of 'sociology of finance'. The aim of the course is to provide students with a solid understanding of the social aspects of present-day finance. This includes insights into the organizational dynamics of trading firms; developments of financial markets toward increasing computerization; and the role of financialization, i.e. the broader effects finance has on society. Teaching will be based on a mixture of lectures and student presentations (students will be assigned presentations in the first class). See website:
