At the exam the student should demonstrate that
s/he can live up to the following learning objectives:
|
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Prerequisites for registering for the exam (activities during the teaching period)
Number of compulsory
activities which must be approved: 5
Compulsory home
assignments
The student must deliver five products (i.e. mandatory assignments) (either in written form or orally) in accordance with the semester project description handed out in the beginning of the semester. Each of the products is a mandatory assignment, and must be timely submitted at different stages and approved individually in order for the student to be eligible for the final take-home exam. All 5 products must be declared "approved" by the instructor. In case the student does not fulfill the requirement of having submitted the required mandatory assignments during the course, s/he must deliver and have approved an essay before the exam or else the student is not eligible to attend the exam. The topic of the essay will be set by the instructor. The length of the essay depends on the number of mandatory assignments missed during the course: max 350 characters per mandatory assignments missed (max 1750 characters for 5 mandatory assignments missed) |

Course content, structure and pedagogical approach
The focus of teaching is communicative language competencies through innovative learning. The aim of the classes is to enable the students to express her-/himself in a consistently intelligible and coherent way. However, the message may require more than a little noticeable effort for the student to compose, or delivery may be too slow. Or the message may clear and expressed fluently, but language use may be somewhat simplistic. Good listening comprehension. Minimally adequate lexico-syntactic resources necessary.
Topics covered in class will focus on Chinese society and economy. The aim of the course is twofold: 1) written production 2) oral interaction |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Description of the teaching methods
Teaching is student-centered with an emphasis on
group work which will be guided by cooperative learning principles
that aim at engaging each student to a maximum extent. The
languages of instruction are Chinese and English.
Active involvement in group discussions and activities is expected of all participants, so students should come to class prepared to contribute. We encourage the students to be active outside the classroom in looking for a variety of opportunities to prepare for classes and practice their language skills. |

Feedback during the teaching period
During the semester the students will receive
feedback on their 5 semester products from instructors and peers.
The feedback process will be conducted on CBS Learn and will be
part of a blended learning format.
Feedback is further offered in response to your questions and work whenever feasible although please appreciate that there are often time constraints. Please feel free to take full advantage of the ‘office hours’ offered by full-time staff members, although these can never be a substitute for participation in lectures and classes. We also encourage you to ask questions or make comments in class and form self-study groups to secure peer feedback on your work. |
