Description of the exam procedure

The internship examination consists of an individual, written report. The report should take its point of departure in relevant theoretical and/or empirical literature, and should describe, analyse and discuss the tasks and challenges the student has dealt with during the internship process and/or the tasks conducted by the firm/organisation. 

 

The report should be maximum 20 pages. It should be structured as a conventional academic report, with a precise research question, literature review, methodology section and analysis where the theory is discussed in relation to the empirical data and the student’s experiences, as well as correct academic referencing. The report should also include reflections on what the student has learned as a result of the internship, as well as on whether and how the academic skills learned at the BSc in European Business were helpful in carrying out the internship tasks.

 

Course content, structure and pedagogical approach

The aim of the internship is to combine theory with a professional practical learning experience in a company, institution or organization that works with issues pertinent to the field of European Business. Ultimately, the course should enable the student to critically reflect on the internship experience from the perspective of the knowledge and mind-set learned on the BSc in European Business.

 

The internship should last a minimum of 3 months, full time (30+ hours per week); alternatively, the hours can be spread over a longer period, e.g. 15 hours per week for 6 months. The entire internship must take place in the same firm or organization.

 

The student is responsible for finding a firm/organisation and establishing an agreement with it. The organization/firm in question must specify the tasks that the student is to carry out. These tasks must be relevant to the competence profile of the BSc in European Business, as well as for the individual student’s study profile, and should preferably involve an element of independent work. Here are some examples of relevant tasks (the list is not exhaustive):   

 

  • Contributing to market analyses or cultural analyses for business purposes
  • Contributing to or designing internationalisation strategies
  • Intercultural dissemination tasks
  • Economic and/or political analyses
  • Organisational analyses
  • Analyses or other tasks related to EU issues.

 
To support the student in writing the report, the student will receive 8 hours of supervision during the internship process. The student is responsible for finding a supervisor. The supervisor should be a faculty member with a relevant specialization in the field in question. The supervisor will discuss the chosen theoretical and empirical problem with the student and ensure that it is relevant to the internship course; s/he can also offer recommendations regarding relevant literature. If the student intends to gather data for a future project (e.g. a Bachelor thesis), s/he can also discuss this with the supervisor.

 

The report may be written in Danish or in English

 

* HA EB supports internships in own startup in connection with the Copenhagen School of Entrepreneurship (CSE). This requires an agreement with CSE, which follows a separate application process - for more information see: http://cse.cbs.dk/teaching-education/cse-entrepreneurship-program/ Following an agreement with CSE an application must be sent in for pre-approval and registration of the internship at the HA EB Study Board, as with any other internship.
