|
The research project offers students the opportunity to integrate and develop their skills for analyzing issues related to international business in Asia.
To this aim the research project brings together theoretical insights from the courses 'Introduction to International Business', 'Asian Business Systems' and 'Microeconomics', as well as research design and methods from 'Research Methods I' and 'Research Methods II'.
The research project is also the first major group project that the students encounter and thus a key step towards the bachelor project. It necessitates team work, coordination and planning. |

| Description of the teaching methods | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| After an introductory lecture, the course happens
entirely online and consists of three online contact moments with
tailored exercises and an online discussion forum.
Before departure, an introductory lecture at the end of 3rd semester (the semester before) walks the students through the research project, its requirements and the different modules that will help them work towards these throughout the semester. Briefly thereafter, groups (already formed during 'Research Method I') are allocated a supervisor and have a first meeting before the end of 3rd semester. At this meeting they must 1) present written comments on each of the points of feedback they received on their research proposal developed in the course 'Research Methods I', and 2) present a revised research proposal. While students are abroad they receive personal feedback on their ongoing research project work from their supervisor through videolink meetings and by email. On top of that, online exercises guide them in terms of time management as well as the academic requirements of their research project. |

| Each project group will receive face-to-face
feedback from their supervisor throughout the whole project process
(using video-link).
In addition the course coordinator and external lecturer will be available for general or processional feedback. |

Supervisor hours per group: 2 students - 8 hours 3 students - 10 hours 4-5 students - 12 hours
Supervision hours are offered in connection with the course during the semester and cannot be automatically transferred to the re-take period.
