Description of the exam procedure

There are no specific requirements concerning the structure of the paper, but generally it may be favourable to build the structure upon the below mentioned points. Besides text (which must be written in English), the report must contain references, and bibliography.

1) A brief description of the host institution and the internship along with a brief summary of key learning experiences (max. 3 standard pages). This entails a description of the organization(s) and the main tasks that the student has been involved in. It should give the reader a comprehension of the challenges and tasks that the student has been faced with during the internship.

2) An analytical part, relating the academic problem and the host institution and /or the work done during the internship. Here, the student must demonstrate reflection, analyzing ability, and the capability to incorporate the scientific literature actively in the paper. The aim is to combine experience from practical work/observation with the academic form of reflection and to create coherence between practical work experience/observatory practice and the analytical knowledge that the programme provides.

3) The report must contain a bibliography consisting of scientific literature which must be employed in the paper. Internships constituting 15 ECTS have a required curriculum of 900 pages respectively.

4) Appendixes are not included in the 20 pages. Please also see the CBS rules regarding formal requirements at my.cbs.dk

5) Transcripts of interviews should be in English. If the interviews were conducted in Danish or other languages, a summary in English should be included with the report.

Course content, structure and pedagogical approach

There are no lectures, therefore no course outline.

An internship must involve both job training and formalized learning processes. It must take place within an existing organization (company, governmental, non-governmental) in which the student is hired by a contract specifying time period and contract hours. The internship is not limited to organizations in Denmark, but can take place in all parts of the world.

It is important to emphasize that an internship must have an academic content.
The student must present a problem that can be dealt with by use of relevant theories from the Service Management studies and from data and experience achieved in connection to the internship

Description of the teaching methods
