- Identify, explain, discuss, and apply the key concepts from
theories and models introduced and discussed in the course from an
economic and sociological perspective.
- Perform appropriate financial analysis to identify problems and
find solutions in the given context.
- Interpret and present financial measures and statistics and
develop and demonstrate the ability to solve problems.
- Describe, explain, and incorporate the challenges that
financial managers face in corporate finance practices based on
sociological perspectives.

Course content, structure and pedagogical
approach |
This course is an introduction to corporate finance that
combines an overview of the fundamentals of corporate finance and
the sociology of finance and markets. It covers the core theories
and concepts in corporate finance such as theories of interest
rates, valuation of financial assets and cash flows, and pricing of
risk. This course draws on sociological studies of finance and
market in applying the theories and concepts to perform financial
analysis and interpretations of the analytics.
Specifically, the course aims to provide the student the ways of
developing the understanding of the larger economic context of
corporate finance. Also, it will enable the students to understand
financial techniques and develop skills to perform financial
analysis to develop solutions to complex problems in the given
context.

Description of the teaching methods |
The course consists of lectures and exercises.
This course is taught as a blended learning course and combines
in-class and online teaching. The online teaching will include
exercises and feedback and aim to help students develop skills to
apply financial analytics to solve problems. |
Feedback during the teaching period |
Students will receive continuous feedback from
the lecturer and peer-students throughout the course. The lecturer
will give written, electronic, or live feedback on student
presentations and exercises. Students will also give and receive
peer feedback to learn from one another.
The lecturer will be available for individual feedback during
office hours and may prompt students to attend office hours based
on the learning progress. |
