Prerequisites for registering for the exam (activities during the teaching period)
Number of compulsory activities which must be approved: 1
Compulsory home assignments
The student must get 1 out of 2 assignments/activities approved in order to attend the ordinary exam.

Assignment 1: Written group home assignment
Students form groups of four or five that are required to submit a written assignment (max. 2 CBS standard pages). The assignment covers one topic from the entire course curriculum and is structured similar to the final exam. The assignments have to be submitted by a specific deadline. Written feedback will be provided.

Assignment 2: Multiple-choice quiz
Towards the middle of the course, a multiple-choice quiz will be given to the students. The quiz will serve as feedback both to the students in informing them individually where they stand but also to the faculty on which topics to focus the final lectures. Following the quiz, there will be a feedback session in which the correct answers will be discussed.

Students will not have extra opportunities to get the required number of compulsory activities approved prior to the ordinary exam. If a student has not received approval of the required number of compulsory activities or has been ill, the student cannot participate in the ordinary exam.
If a student prior to the retake is still missing approval for the required number of compulsory activities and meets the pre-conditions set out in the program regulations, an extra assignment is possible.

The extra assignment is a 10 page home assignment that will cover the required number of compulsory activities. If approved, the student will be able to attend retake.

Course content, structure and pedagogical approach

Objective: This course builds analytical insight into relationships between knowledge, innovation and competitiveness and into their implications for the management of innovation.
Content: The course introduces theories, concepts, and methods for the analysis of innovations at the levels of projects, firms and industries. The course also introduces a set of tools related to innovation practices of firms, as one of the ways in which the course bridges and integrates academic analysis of innovations with the practical issues of their management.

Description of the teaching methods
Student groups analyze a recent innovation in a specific company based on interviews and desk research, reflecting questions that teachers of the different modules of the course pose throughout the course. Through this work students can prepare themselves for the final home assignment.
Feedback during the teaching period
Written feedback will be given to groups participating in the written group home assignment. Moreover, there will be in-class oral feedback after the multiple-choice quiz. There is continuous feedback to students based on case analyses and exercises in class.
