Course content, structure and pedagogical approach | ||||||||||||||||||||||
The course is designed to provide an integrated framework for the application of key corporate finance concepts and tools. The material in the course covers the fundamental topics in corporate finance and gives students a "hands-on" experience by using both materials from business cases and publicly available financial data.
The course is divided into three broad topics including the investment decision, the financing decision, and valuation.
The goal of the course is to provide students with a framework that will enhance their ability to analyze complex financial problems faced by real-world managers, CFOs, and analysts.
The lectures combine the teaching of fundaments following the outline of the textbook with application of these concepts to business cases. For some cases, the course will require significant work outside of class. The work will provide students with experiences similar to those faced by a corporate manager/analyst in that information often is imperfect and data is often vague or ambiguous. The case discussion will often be open-ended and students can expect to be challenged to defend and articulate their arguments using case material. |
