Course prerequisites
Strategic Management is a capstone course for an undergraduate business major program. Participants should be familiar with principles of management and functional business management concepts.

Course content, structure and pedagogical approach

This course introduces participants to the concepts and issues involved in strategic management as well as the actions required to acquire and maintain competitive advantages in business. 

 

Lessons taught will aid participants in understanding the relationship between strategy and business performance. Attention will focus on appreciating why some organizations outperform others in a global environment.
 
Participants will be brought through and develop an understanding of the strategic management process and cases will be discussed to reinforce the theoretical framework..

 

Preliminary assignment: Based on uploaded materials and any others students can find on the internet, sketch out a Strategic Management Framework as comprehensively as they  can.

Class 4: Strategic Capabilities and Purpose
 
Class 5: Strategic Choices/ Options (1) - Growth; Stability; and Defensive strategies
 
Class 6: Strategic Choices/ Options (2) - Introducing Strategic Planning Tools for decision-making
 
Feedback activity: Revision (with questions and answers) feedback from students on classes 1-5 (approx. 30 mins) to check understanding of course content and effectiveness of pedagogy.

Description of the teaching methods
This year all courses are taught digitally over the Internet. Instructors will apply direct/live teaching through a link (like Skype, Team, Zoom). In some courses, pre-recorded material will also be used.
