Course content, structure and pedagogical approach | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
By focusing on the economic and political context of Chinese business organizations, the overall aim of the course is to provide a solid understanding of the shift of economic power that is currently changing the world and global international business.
The course will start with an overview of China’s role in the global economy, followed by a series of lectures on the nature and characteristics of Chinese economic organizations. In addition the competitiveness of the Chinese economy will be discussed in overall terms as well as from the perspective of selected industries and branches. Against this background the course then explores issues related to China’s approach to market economy and examines in detail Chinese business networks, the form and structure Chinese of firms and the institutional, economic and political environment. |

Description of the teaching methods | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
There will be a series of pre-recorded on-line lectures. In class the main issues and insights from these lectures will be discussed and put into perspective. This will be based on short summaries by the lecturer combined with student group presentations and discussion. Individual groups will be supervise on-line on a regular basis. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Feedback during the teaching period | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Students will receive feedback in relation to
class discussion. They will have the option to present their ideas
in class and will here get feedback from their teacher and
classmates.
Please feel free to take full advantage of the ‘office hours’ offered by full-time staff members, although these can never be a substitute for participation in lectures and classes. We also encourage you to ask questions or make comments in class and form self study groups to secure peer feedback on your work. |
