Course content, structure and pedagogical
approach |
This course introduces risk management form a corporate
perspective. It will help to identify and manage risk with a view
towards improving a firm’s risk position. It will show which result
the absence of such methods can have on a corporate outcome. In
practice, risk management refers to structured processes of
avoiding, reducing or managing events that can damage individual
organizations. To highlight its practical applicability, we will
use cases to highlight and exercise the key concepts and frameworks
introduced in the course. The course will start with the nature of
risk management and its strategic importance. We will go through
economic factors impacting the risk of an organization and show
ways to manage it. The focus on different risk management practices
will lead us to some critique on established enterprise risk
management frameworks.
