Description of the exam procedure

Your internship must have an international or intercultural scope. This can be fulfilled by the location of the organisation where the internship is conducted or by the nature of the job that you do during the internship.

The synopsis serves as basis for the individual, oral exam where the student starts out by giving a brief presentation. The examiners can ask questions based on the entire curriculum.

The exam is conducted in the language that is to be assessed, which is the student's second language (French, German or Spanish) and two grades will be given; one for language and one for content.

The purpose of the exam is to test the student's:

  1. ability to communicate fluently with a varied vocabulary and without errors that impede communication.
  2. insight into the societal and cultural context which s/he has been part of and the ability to reflect theoretically upon it.

The student will receive two grades according to the 7-point grading scale; one grade for the communicative skills in the student's second language and one grade for the content.

Course content, structure and pedagogical approach

The student is eligible for 4 hours of supervision by an area studies supervisor. The purpose of the supervision is to ensure that synopsis and curriculum relate to relevant theoretical and empirical problems within the chosen study area.

The synopsis must be written in the student's second language (French, German or Spanish).
