Same examination form as the ordinary exam
If the student has submitted their
thesis, but is ill at the oral defense, a new defense will be
arranged as soon as possible based on the thesis already submitted.
If the student receives a non-passing grade at the regular exam,
they have used an exam attempt. It is then a requirement that the
Master’s Thesis contract is renewed, i.e. the student must further
clarify their original topic delimitation, which must then be
approved by the thesis coordinator.

Description of the exam
procedure
1 person group: 45 minutes
3 persons groups: 90 minutes
Please notice that groups of 3 students require a
dispensation.
The assessment is carried out by the supervisor (if there is
more than one supervisor, only the primary supervisor participates)
and an external examiner. The grade awarded must reflect an overall
assessment of the written thesis (including the abstract of max. 1
page ), the oral defence and the student’s spelling and style -
although more emphasis will be placed on the academic content.

Course content, structure and pedagogical
approach |
The thesis block comprises the preparation of a written thesis
(the Master’s thesis), which serves as a test of the student’s
ability to engage in in-depth study and independently describe,
analyse and process a complex issue at Master’s level. The student
chooses the subject of the thesis from within the concentration’s
overall theme and academic profile. Under special circumstances,
the Study Board may approve an exemption from this provision. The
topic delimitation of the Master’s thesis must be approved prior to
the start of thesis supervision. At the time of approval, a
deadline for submission of the thesis is also determined together
with a plan for supervision.
On the English-medium programme concentrations, the Master’s
thesis must be written and submitted in English.
|
Description of the teaching methods |
To support writing the master’s thesis workshops
are held in the spring semester alternating between thematic
lectures and group based presentation and feedback on
work-in-progress. |
Feedback during the teaching period |
The supervisor offers supervision. |
Student workload |
