Examination form Oral exam based on written product

In order to participate in the oral exam, the written product must be handed in before the oral exam; by the set deadline. The grade is based on an overall assessment of the written product and the individual oral performance, see also the rules about examination forms in the programme regulations.

The student’s spelling and writing skills are taken into consideration in the overall assessment of the examination performance, but the academic content is given the highest weight.
Regulations regarding the summary The summary is in English and is a part of the project and should be between 400-700 words. The summary will be a part of the assesment.

The re-take takes place according to the same rules as the regular examination. However, the following supplementary rules apply:
For projects, where some of the group members receive a grade 00 or below at the oral defence, these students must submit, before the re-take, individual supplementary written material on aspects of the project specified by the examiner and external censor. For guidance in this respect, the examiner and external examiner will within eight working days of the oral examination give a written critique of the respective student performance and specify the supplementary material needed.
For projects where all members are awarded a grade of 00 or below at the oral deference, the overall project is deemed unacceptable. Before the re-take the project must be revised and improved. For guidance in this respect, the examiner and external censor will give a brief written critique of the project within eight working days of the oral examination.
Description of the exam procedure
The grade given will reflect an overall assessment of the project, the oral presentation, and the defence. 
Course content, structure and pedagogical approach

The Bachelor Project concludes the undergraduate programme. The objectives of the Bachelor Project are a continuation of the overall DM programme.

 

In the Bachelor Project students have an opportunity to explore an issue of interest within an interdisciplinary social science, research-oriented, participatory educational framework.

 

Students should build on knowledge already acquired during the programme, formulate a research question within the framework of the DM programme and, if possible, choose their research question in collaboration with an organisation. The research question may benefit from problems and issues experienced during students’ internship, if the student has participated in an internship programme.

 

At the beginning of the semester, the course coordinator hosts a workshop. It is intended to help you critically reflect upon the structure and content of your project, allow you to practice presenting the main ideas of your project to an audience talking about methodological, theoretical and analytical matters in a coherent way. You are expected to participate in the workshop.

Description of the teaching methods
The bachelor project is written individually or in groups, so that students may focus on a topic of mutual interest, refine this topic into a research issue, and work together to design, conduct, and present a project.

Students are themselves responsible for forming groups, which is the recommended way of working with the project. If the student encounters problems in the process, they can contact the course coordinator. We encourage students to start the process of reflecting on common interests, group formations and supervisor choice well in advance of the active writing period, preferably 3 months before.

The Bachelor Project experience involves peer-to-peer learning, project supervision from a supervisor, and the learning experience found in the preparation, submission, presentation and examination.

The Bachelor Project enhances the reflective understanding and sensibility of students in the proper use of subject material taught in courses or otherwise acquired.
Feedback during the teaching period
Feedback is an integral part of the project-writing process. From the outset, students are strongly encouraged and advised to play a full part in review sessions and other opportunities to secure feedback from both teaching staff and peers.

Students should also maintain contact with their supervisor on a regular basis and prepare in advance for supervision sessions by drawing up an agenda listing questions or issues.
