Description of the teaching methods
The course builds on both conceptual frameworks for Operations Management as well as quantitative tools and techniques for solving operations problems. The course will consist of lectures, case discussions and workshops. Active preparation and participation are expected from the students.
Feedback during the teaching period
Feedback will take place throughout the course
with two specific activities which have a particular focus on
creating conditions for feedback.
These include: - Participation in the online business simulations and/or Livecases. Students will in groups of 4-5 students be given the challenge act as a management team (i.e. to turn around a company) by making tactical and strategic decisions related to operation and supply chain management. As part of the participation in this activity, students will receive feedback on their performance. Moreover, each group will be asked to present reflections and strategic thinking to stakeholders (i.e. board of directors) and will receive feedback in the groups on this basis. - Students will be asked to prepare and present their ideas for topic and context for their synopsis prior to a workshop held in-class. Prior to the workshop the ideas are submitted via peer-grade and all students who have submitted ideas will receive feedback on these from peers and faculty during the workshop and via peer-grade. |
