Description of the exam procedure

The exam is a two-week take-home assignment. Students formulate a research question and write an academic paper on the basis of the course content.

Course content, structure and pedagogical approach

The purpose of the course is to provide students with knowledge, skills and competencies associated with the analysis of complex issues within international strategy and innovation, formulation of relevant management action plans and preparation of professionally substantiated directions for their implementation.

 

The course deals with company-level strategy, management and innovation in international companies. It includes a portfolio of issues related to the strategy, management, innovation and operation of modern international companies. It focuses on designing organizational structures, systems and processes for implementing international strategy in complex environments and on the managerial challenges associated with such implementation. It includes topics such as company resources and competencies and building (lasting) competitive advantages; international organizational structures; cross-border innovation, learning and knowledge management; business partnerships, alliances and joint ventures; relationships between headquarters and subsidiaries; human resource management; international negotiation; and corporate social responsibility.

Description of the teaching methods
The course is a blended learning course, incorporating a variety of IT-supported elements.
The course texts, supported by lecture-based discussions, convey the central topics of international management and formulation and implementation of strategies. Discussions of business cases and the inclusion of real business examples are used to explore and elaborate on these topics. In addition, the syllabus includes short videos related to each lecture and multiple-choice questions for each of the readings. The course also encompasses short written assignments, which are subject to peer assessment. Participants are encouraged to share their knowledge and experience within the lectures and contribute to a constructive learning environment
