The BLC master’s thesis candidate will
demonstrate an ability to:
- Independently describe, analyse and process a complex issue
using relevant scientific theories and methods.
- Define an international and/or intercultural issue relevant to
companies and organisations.
- Formulate an appropriate research question that guides and
structures the research and thesis writing process.
- Select, assess, and apply relevant theories.
- Select, assess, and apply a relevant methodological approach,
including research strategy, design, data collection methods and
suitability of data, while considering an appropriate philosophy of
science position
- Conduct a coherent analysis of the data.
- Present concise conclusions.
- Ensure appropriate internal coherence between research
question, theories, methodology, data, analyses, and
conclusions.
- Critically assess the usefulness and relevance of the selected
theories and methodology of the thesis for the findings.
- Critically assess the implications of the findings of the
thesis for practice

Oral exam based on written product
In order to participate in the oral exam, the written product
must be handed in before the oral exam; by the set deadline. The
grade is based on an overall assessment of the written product and
the individual oral performance, see also the rules about
examination forms in the programme regulations. |

The student’s spelling and writing skills are taken into
consideration in the overall assessment of the examination
performance, but the academic content is given the highest

| Regulations regarding the summary |
The thesis must contain an abstract written in English. The
abstract forms part of the overall assessment.

If the student has submitted their
thesis, but is ill at the oral defense, a new defense will be
arranged as soon as possible based on the thesis already submitted.
If the student receives a non-passing grade at the regular exam,
they have used an exam attempt. It is then a requirement that the
Master’s Thesis contract is renewed, i.e. the student must further
clarify their original topic delimitation, which must then be
approved by the thesis coordinator.

The master’s thesis is normally the last step in a graduate
course of study, representing a research inquiry in the field of
concentration, reflecting appropriate social science research
method and offering original contributions. Orientation sessions
and various workshops are offered in support of all facets of the
thesis process.
The purpose of the master’s thesis is for the student to develop
and manifest the ability to conduct a graduate level research
involving proper description, analysis, and the crafting of an
appropriate research issue using appropriate scientific theory and
research method.
The general focus of the BLC master’s thesis, consistent with
the BLC course of study, should involve a defined international
and/or intercultural issue relevant to companies and
organizations.
