Number of compulsory activities which must be approved (see section 13 of the Programme Regulations): 3
Compulsory home assignments
Students must submit 3 mandatory assignments out of 5 possible mandatory assignments. The students are free to choose which 3 mandatory assignments out of the 5 possible they wish to submit. The assignments are graded with pass/fail. There will not be planned any retake options for students who are missing assignments and have not made attempts in all five assigments.

If the number of registered candidates for the make-up examination/re-take examination warrants that it may most appropriately be held as an oral examination, the programme office will inform the students that the make-up examination/re-take examination will be held as an oral examination instead.
Course content, structure and pedagogical approach

The Interdisciplinary Research Methods course is designed to introduce BLC students to research methods, the nature of their participation in social science research and reflection. The course is organised around lectures, group discussions and individual study (blended learning). The course focuses on interdisciplinary problem-oriented knowledge production in project work.

 

The practical, reflective, and reflexive tasks of the contemporary Business School researcher as an individual aware of her or his own cognitional processes will be developed. Building upon this self-appropriation, the methods lectures will introduce and/or refine interview methods and skills and explore how different qualitative and quantitative methods approaches can be used to enhance research validity and reliability. Key aspects of the philosophy of science will be covered insofar as these result in more proficient, reflective, and reflexively aware organizational researchers.
Description of the teaching methods
Methods include lectures, class discussion, class exercises (individual and group work), home-learning (using Canvas: mainly quizzes, videos) and homework (reading and exercises). There will be three assignments during the course.
Feedback during the teaching period
Students receive feedback via Canvas and in class from the teacher. There will be provided feedback on the assignments. One exercise will involve peer reviewing between students.

Further Information

The last exam as a BLC 2nd semester course was held in Summer 2022.
