This course aims to introduce the student to the world of investments. Principles of Investment Finance will strive to help students understand individual investment decision-making by introducing topics and techniques used by personal investors and money managers. The course focuses on individual securities and portfolios, teaching students to consider the risk and return of different types of investments and how to use this knowledge to achieve financial goals. There will be a focus on stock and bond investing. The course will cover the mechanics of buying and selling securities, efficient market theory, portfolios, diversification, stock valuation, and international investing.

This course will be a blended learning course, three weeks in the traditional classroom and two weeks online. For online class sessions, Instructors will apply direct/live teaching through a link (Zoom) and or pre-recorded material. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

Ordinary 6 weeks course
Preliminary Assignment: The Nordic-9 pre-course is foundational for the summer university and identical for all bachelor courses. Students will receive an invitation with all details by the end of May. The assignment has two parts. 1.) online lectures and tutorials that student can access at their own time and 2.) one synchronous workshop which will be offered both online and in-person at several dates and times before the official start of the summer university courses. Sign-up is first come first serve. All students are expected to complete this assignment before classes begin.”
