      | At the end of the course, the students must be
able to: • Understand the legal aspect of shipping in respect of
maritime contracts and tort law• Describe the general legal setting of the international
shipping industry in respect of shipping contracts and tort
matters• Identify and explain common legal problems in the
international shipping industry and to solve such contractual and
non-contractual disputes• Explain commonly used standard contracts such as Bills of
Ladings and Charter Parties• Apply the relevant laws/instruments applicable to a tort
dispute involving maritime key-actors such as ship-owners,
carriers, governmental and inter-governmental
authorities
