Learning objectives | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Through the project report, the students should demonstrate the ability to master a project that is “issue-focused”, i.e. dealing with a concrete problem, be it a corporate, economic or theoretical problem, and includes a dimension of “internationality”, i.e. dealing with a question that applies to more than one country. Since the CEMS Research Project is applied in different domains of academic business studies, the more precise expectations and specific learning objective for the individual project should be clarified in a dialogue between the student and the project supervisor at the beginning of project work.
Course prerequisites | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The CEMS Research Project is for CEMS MIM students only.
Prerequisites for registering for the exam (activities during the teaching period)

Prior to commencement the topic must be approved by the CEMS Academic Director. Specifically, the students must outline the project idea/topic in a Research Project proposal. The proposal should not exceed 2 standard CBS pages, and should contain a clear description of: 1) the topic, 2) the main goals and/or research questions of the project, 3) the suggested approach and methodology, as well as 4) an indication of the proposed supervisor. |

Course content, structure and pedagogical approach
The CEMS Research Project results in an independent research paper that counts only towards the CEMS MIM degree. It is formally separated from the MSc degree and will be graded by the supervisor only. The CEMS Research Project may be used as a pilot project / stepping stone toward the later MSc thesis. This implies that the contents of the CEMS Research Project may be designed so that it feeds into the MSc thesis, e.g. with an introduction, delimitation of research question(s), a review of the literature in the field, or research methodology. If the student chooses to integrate the text produced for the CEMS Research Project paper in the subsequent master’s thesis at CBS, the student must mention this in the master’s thesis.
