Course content, structure and pedagogical approach | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This course consists of a group project and of classes addressing issues typically encountered in health care innovation projects in companies, start-up or in the health care provider organisations. Examples of these issues are concerned with innovation design, needs analysis, development of value propositions, markets and pricing of medical products, or issues in organizational implementation of innovation.
Organised into groups, students focus on a specific innovation challenge in a specific company or health provider organization (typically a hospital). The project group carries out field work in its host organization to obtain the most fruitful problem statement, to collect data, and to present and discuss solutions. This type of project, referred to as IndustryHosted Projects, require a substantial effort from all project members in terms of coordinating and collaborating with the host company within normal work hours
Groups unable to meet these requirements instead write a project on an issue in health care innovation based on literature and existing cases. These will be referred to as Literature-based Projects. They require the same workload as do Industry Hosted Projects, but they offer students more flexibility in terms of scheduling and carrying out their project work. |
