The report must be structured as an academic report with a clear research question, a literature review, a methodological section, and an analysis against the backdrop of the reviewed literature. The report must use appropriate academic referencing. The report must include an appendix that provides an overview of the data collected during the internship and used in the report. Finally, it must include reflections concerning the academic skills learned at the programme and used during the internship, as well as a discussion of your internship in relation to your further studies and career.

Course content, structure and pedagogical approach

As a full time student you can transfer an internship to your study program. The internship must take place in an company / organization or in a Copenhagen School of Entrepreneurship (CSE) approved startup. The internship can be in Denmark or in a foreign country.

Internships provide students with a real life professional learning experience and offer students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a business company, institution or organization that works professionally with issues relating to information management. The main objective of internships is to convert academic and theoretical knowledge into professional experience.

There are four types of internships

  1. Individual internship in an organization: The student has an individual agreement with an organisation. The student hands in a report in accordance with the listed requirements.

  2. Group internship: Students can participate in cross-department or cross-university arrangements where students work in groups on a project defined by an organisation or a university consortia. Based on a shared case the student has to hand in an individual report which fulfills the listed requirements.

  3. CSE approved startup: The student has an internship in his/hers own company with Copenhagen School of Entrepreneurship (CSE) as incubator.

  4. Research internship: A research internship consists of a period of 4 months where you work in close cooperation with researchers at CBS. During your research internship you will participate in a research project with a topic of your choice or a topic chosen in cooperation with our research group. The student hands in a report or an article which will be evaluated and graded. Note: The host organization supervisor in this case will be the department secretary.
