The completion of this course is based on active student participation in class. The course will be considered as passed if the students participation - based on an overall assessment - in the class activities fulfill the learning objectives of the course. The individual student’s participation is assessed by the teacher.

Description of activities
A combination of assignment and presentation: Complete a minimum of two written reflexive assignments and give a group presentation in class

Course content, structure and pedagogical approach

This course deals with the factors influencing the development of contemporary culture and tourism demand from an interdisciplinary perspective. It introduces theories and empirical studies at the forefront of research in the field of culture and tourism studies. Students gain insights on factors that impact on the ability, motivation and experience of cultural experiences and travel in a fast changing world such as embodiment, risk, performances, commodification, authenticity, diversity and digitalization among others.  The course presents the latest  theoretical frameworks from the perspective of several social sciences to comprehend culture and tourist behaviour and consumption.  It examines the complex interrelationship between technological development and culture and tourism demand. The aim of this course is also to explore various aspects of demand trends for emerging culture and tourism services.

The course includes lectures, reflexive exercises, student's presentations and interactive exercises in class.
