During the course, the students will develop
analytical skills and abilities to assess developments in the
digital environments due to digital technologies, and thereby
improve their capabilities to engage in individual and group
decision-making and solve specific business problems. Upon
completion of the course, the students will be able to develop and
present concrete solutions to business from data-related problems
and advise firms about how to deal with the underlying challenges
and opportunities.

This course offers an in-depth exploration of the intersection of data, digital platforms, and digitalization, focusing on their economic, managerial, and societal impacts. Students will learn how the digital economy is reshaping business landscapes and transforming traditional business processes, products, and services. The course delves into the economic implications of digital platforms, examining how they drive business models, influence pricing strategies, create competitive advantages, and affect market valuations. Key topics include the role of big data in decision-making, the management of digital platforms, and the societal implications of digitalization. Students will explore how data-driven strategies enable customization, personalization, and micro-targeting and assess the impact of network externalities in digital ecosystems. Through case studies, real-world examples, and interactive discussions, students will develop an understanding of how data and digital platforms are transforming industries and society. |

Description of the teaching methods | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The course will be conducted in sessions of three time-slots (3x45). Each session is strongly based on students’ participation. Following the introduction, each session includes lectures presenting specific theoretical issues, practical examples to further the understanding of the theory as well as students’ participation in the discussions about specific business cases. CBS Learn is used for sharing documents, slides, exercises etc. as well as for interactive lessons if applicable. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||

During the first session the students will be prompt to decide on the business idea for the project. In the following sessions the students will be provided feedback on how the topics of each session could relate to their project through a set of questions presented in the slides that would be discussed in the corresponsing session. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
