Compulsory group assignments
There will be a mandatory group assignment based on a course project. The assignment is graded approved/not approved by one examiner. A passing grade (pass/fail) on this assignment is a prerequisite for participating in the regular exam.

Please note that if a student does not hand in the mandatory assignment, there will be no further tries and the student will not have access to the ordinary exam. Nevertheless, if the mandatory assignment is submitted but not approved, or if the student is ill (documented), he or she will have a second try before the ordinary exam.
In such cases, the instructor will provide specific requirements.

Description of the exam procedure

Course content, structure and pedagogical approach

This course seeks to help students develop a basic background and empirical skills to investigate entrepreneurial problems and opportunities that address challenges in society. It explores the ethics and fundamental principles of scientific investigation that underpin research in strategic design and entrepreneurship (SDE).

 

Students will acquire basic skills in quantitative, qualitative and computational methods and will learn how to collect, reflect upon and analyze data for qualitative research on entrepreneurial insights and ideas. They will also develop skills in quantitative data analysis. In addition, students will learn to present and communicate effectively research findings to people from diverse backgrounds.

 

The course combines lectures, exercises, and online learning materials to help the students learn about different methods and identify and employ appropriate methods to address research questions and associated practical problems. The students will reflectively assess their research practices, data collection and data management in terms of practical and ethical considerations. By way of exercises, students will have inidividual and collaborative hands-on experience in conducting SDE-related research projects.

 

Students will be introduced to digital tools for data management, statistical analysis and data visualization. Online learning materials will be provided for honing the practical skills that students will use in future research projects.

Description of the teaching methods
The course consists in lectures and exercises and combines in-class and online teaching. Students develop a final project throughout the course and are tasked with assignments that help them assess their own understanding of methodological approaches and skills. Teaching will include demonstrations and developmental feedback on assignments and final projects.
Feedback during the teaching period
Collective, peer-to-peer and individual feedback will be provided for exercises and assignments. Students will also receive continuous feedback on their projects throughout the course. The instructor remains available, during office hours, to discuss students' learning progress.
