Course content and
structure |
The main purpose of this course is to demonstrate how innovation
can be applied by service organizations to address key challenges.
Taking a starting point in the fact that innovation is often driven
by the need to resolve problems, this course will focus on
challenges raised by social and environmental aspects that drive
business transformations today. Such challenges have managerial,
financial and political consequences that will be analyzed and
discussed during the course. Aspects such as resource scarcity or
the excessive amounts of wastes created during the provision and
consumption of products or services create opportunities for
business innovation. In adition, social innovation and
entrepreneurship offer complementary perspectives for understanding
corporate renewal and competitiveness. This course will provide
students with the relevant skills to identify such opportunities
and develop concepts for innovative business solutions to
sustainability challenges.

Teaching methods |
The course will use a problem-solving
approach to teaching. In order to fulfil the learning objectives,
the students are expected to identify challenges in real-life cases
of public or private service organisations, select problems they
can address in the time allocated for the course, and use the
knowledge and resources provided during the course, to develop new
concepts that help solve the problems selected. |
Further Information |
The course is first offered in spring 2016
