The course aims to develop the students’ knowledge of maritime economics by bridging the theoretical learning from the course on introduction to maritime economics with practical cases. Based on the students’ experiences from the internships the course will include student presentations and classroom discussions in relation to the five main themes: (1) shipping costs, (2) revenue markets, (3) shipping organization, (4) fleet management & operation, and (5) corporate strategy. This will be combined with lecturers and discussions of the literature.
Because of the internships the classroom teaching will be concentrated in week 46 (from Monday the 14 November to Friday the 18 November). In order to pass the course the students are expected to prepare a number of tasks in advance:
